Creating and managing rooms
A room is a place for one topic or one team. Make as many as you need; archive them when they're done.
Create a room
- In the sidebar, choose Add a room under Rooms. (Or choose + at the foot of the rail, then Room.)
- Enter a Name, such as launch-planning, and optionally choose an emoji.
- Say What's it for? in a sentence, so people know whether to join.
- Choose the Visibility:
- Public: anyone in the workspace can find and join it.
- Private: only the people you add can see it.
- Choose Create room.
Room settings
Open the room, then choose the ⋮ menu in its header and Room settings. It has two tabs:
- About: the room's name, emoji, purpose and visibility.
- Members: everyone in the room.
From Members, a room's owner can:
| Action | Does |
|---|---|
| Invite a colleague | Add someone from your organization to a private room (public rooms are already open to the workspace) |
| Invite people from outside | Invite someone outside your organization to this room only. See Inviting people from outside |
| Make owner / Make member | Let another member manage the room, or take that back |
| Remove | Take someone out of the room |
At the foot of the dialog, Leave room takes you out of the room. Owners also see Archive: the room's history is kept, but no one can post in it any more.
Only a room's owners can change its name, emoji, purpose and visibility.
Commons
Commons belongs to the whole workspace. Everyone in the workspace has access to it, so you can add members but not remove them. Copy Commons link copies a link to share.
Join a public room
Public rooms you're not in show up when you search for them. Open one and choose Join room.
