Workspaces
A workspace is a home for work inside your organization: its own Commons room and rooms, workstreams, tasks, Loops, files and Live Canvas boards. Most organizations need one or a few. Add another when a group should start with a clean slate, such as a pilot, a subsidiary or a department that shouldn't share its workstream history.
What belongs where
| Belongs to the workspace | Belongs to the organization |
|---|---|
| Commons and rooms, direct messages, workstreams, tasks, Loops, files, Live Canvas boards, the workspace's Lifecycle Graph | Plan, billing and usage limits, members and roles, teams, the Company Wiki, connections, models and keys, the data region |
A new workspace starts empty but can use everything the organization shares. Its members are the people you add; it isn't shared with the whole organization automatically.
Create a workspace
- Open the workspace switcher at the top of the sidebar and choose New workspace.
- Enter a Workspace name (at least two characters), a Description saying what it is for, and a Default language. Your own app language stays in Profile → Language.
- Choose Continue.
- Under Workspace members, choose Add members and pick people from the directory, or skip the step and add them later from workspace settings. Org super admins are always members and can't be removed.
- Choose Continue, check the Summary, tick Create this workspace and switch me into it., and choose Create workspace.
Harmony creates the workspace and switches you into it.
How many workspaces you can have depends on your plan: one on Free, five on Pro, and unlimited on Scale and Enterprise. More can be added on Pro. See Plans and seats.
Switch workspace
Open the workspace switcher and choose a workspace. Rooms, workstreams and everything else in the sidebar reload for it. Harmony remembers your last workspace the next time you sign in.
Change a workspace's settings
Open the workspace switcher, or the menu under your avatar, and choose Workspace settings. Admins also find it in the sidebar.
| Tab | What you can change |
|---|---|
| Workspace | Its name, logo, language, currency, time zone and date format |
| Members & Directory | Who is in the workspace and their roles, and adding or removing people |
New workspaces start from the organization's regional defaults. See Organization settings.
FAQs
Who can create a workspace? Admins, within the number of workspaces your plan includes. If New workspace is missing, ask an admin.
Does a workspace have its own billing? No. Plans, usage limits and invoices belong to the organization. To follow spend by group, use team budgets. See Budgets and spend.
Is a workspace the same as a workstream? No. A workspace holds many workstreams. A workstream is one piece of goal-scoped work inside it. See Workstreams.
Does the Company Wiki change between workspaces? No. It belongs to the organization, though access to each part of it can still be limited.
Can I delete a workspace? Not yourself. Contact support.
