Triggers and schedules

Triggers and schedules

A Loop's trigger decides when it runs. Set it under Trigger when you create or edit the Loop.

The Trigger section set to On a schedule, every day at 09:00

Trigger types

Trigger When the Loop runs
Manually Only when someone presses Run now.
On a schedule On a cadence, whether or not anyone is watching.
On an app event When something happens in a connected app, such as a new issue in Linear. Within moments for apps that send events, or at the next check for apps that are polled.
When data changes When the connected data changes, checked every 30 minutes.
From an MCP tool When an MCP tool calls it.

Set a schedule

  1. Under Trigger, choose On a schedule.
  2. Pick a cadence, such as Every day at 09:00 or The 1st of each month at 09:00.
  3. For anything else, choose Custom schedule. To write the schedule as a cron expression, choose Advanced: edit cron.

Schedules are evaluated in UTC.

Start on an app event

  1. Under Trigger, choose On an app event.
  2. Pick an app from Your apps (the apps you have connected), or search All apps.
  3. Choose the event to start on.

Only apps you have connected appear under Your apps. An app with no events says so.

Pause a Loop

Turn off Enabled at the top of the Loop's page. The Loop keeps its trigger but does not run until you turn it on again.
