Plans, seats, and included usage
Business Summary: Your plan sets two limits that matter day to day — how many people can join your workspace (seats) and how much governed AI work you can run each billing period (included NTUs).
NTUs (Nimbus Token Units) are the credits that measure how much AI work a run uses. Seats are the people who can sign in and collaborate. Both come with your plan tier; this guide explains what each means and what to do when you hit a limit.
Note: Your dashboard currently shows sample data — it will update automatically once your workspace billing is activated. Your invoice is the source of truth for charges.
Plan tiers at a glance
| Plan | Included NTU / billing period | Included seats | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pro | 200 | 1 | Solo operators and pilots |
| Team | 2,000 | 10 | Small teams running weekly governed runs |
| Business | 5,000 | 25 | Departments with multiple workstreams and approvers |
Included NTUs reset each billing period. Unused NTUs typically do not roll over — confirm on your contract.
See Choosing the right plan for sizing guidance and Plans and overage for what happens when usage exceeds the pool.
What is a seat?
A seat is one active member in your organization who can sign in, join workstreams, and (depending on role) approve checkpoints.
| Situation | Counts toward seats? |
|---|---|
| Accepted invite — member can sign in | Yes |
| Pending invite — email sent, not yet accepted | Usually no until they join |
| Viewer or external stakeholder without login | Depends on contract — confirm with your admin |
Seat limits are separate from NTU limits: you can have seats available but still exhaust your NTU pool, or vice versa.
What are included NTUs?
Included NTUs are the monthly pool of AI-work credits bundled with your plan. Every governed Plan run draws from this pool when it completes.
Your effective pool may be higher than the base table when:
- Waitlist promotional entitlements apply at signup
- Usage commitment add-ons add fixed NTU blocks each period
Check Settings → Usage & Billing — the Included NTU line on the summary card shows your total entitlement for the current period.
When you hit the seat limit
If your plan includes 10 seats and you already have 10 active members:
- New invites may be blocked until you remove a member, upgrade tier, or purchase additional seats (when available).
- Ask your workspace super admin (the person who created the workspace) to review the roster under Settings → Members & Directory.
- Remove inactive accounts or upgrade before inviting large groups.
See Inviting teammates for the invite flow and role options.
When you need more included NTUs
If runs are consuming your pool faster than expected:
- Watch the header NTU meter and Reading your usage dashboard.
- Pause non-urgent Plan runs until the period resets or capacity is added.
- Purchase a commitment add-on for a sustained higher baseline — see Usage commitment add-ons.
- Upgrade tier when your team size and run volume have outgrown the current plan.
See Plans and overage for overage versus hard-block behavior.
How to upgrade or change plan
- Open Settings → Usage & Billing (sidebar → Settings, then the Usage & Billing tab — or click the NTU meter in the header).
- Review current plan, seats, and included NTU on the summary card.
- Follow in-product upgrade or checkout links when live billing is enabled for your workspace.
- After upgrade, confirm the Included NTU and seat counts on the summary card match your new tier.
Plan changes and payment methods are managed on the same tab. See Invoices and payment methods.
Example scenario
A Team-plan RevOps lead has 8 of 10 seats filled. Finance notices the NTU progress bar at 90% mid-month. The admin invites two analysts — both seats are available. Before month-end, they purchase a commitment add-on rather than upgrading to Business, because seat count is fine but run volume spiked during quarterly planning.
What to do next
- Sizing your tier → Choosing the right plan
- Usage above your pool → Plans and overage
- Adding people → Inviting teammates
FAQs {#faqs}
Q: Do seats and NTUs reset together? A: Both follow your billing period, but they measure different things — people versus run consumption.
Q: Can I have more seats than my plan includes? A: Not on standard self-serve tiers. Upgrade or contact sales for Enterprise arrangements.
Q: Why is included NTU higher than the plan table? A: Promotional entitlements or commitment add-ons increase your pool. See Usage commitment add-ons.
Q: Who can change the plan? A: Your workspace super admin and finance partners typically manage upgrades and payment methods.
Q: Does removing a member free a seat immediately? A: Yes — deactivated or removed members no longer count toward the seat limit.
