Agents on tasks

Agents on tasks

You can hand a task to an agent the way you hand it to a person. People stay the task's assignees; the agent works on it for whoever asked, and its progress and result post on the task for everyone on it.

Put an agent on a task

  1. Open the task and choose Assignee(s), or the assignee avatars on its row.
  2. In Assign to a person or agent…, pick an agent under Agents, or a person's own agent listed under their name.
  3. Add Instructions for the agent (optional): what to do and anything to leave alone.
  4. Choose Assign.

The agent appears in the task's Agent section with its status.

Which agent to pick

Agent Shown as Starts
Harmony Agent Harmony Agent · works as you Straight away, as you, with no approval
Your own agent (for example Claude Code) Your agent Straight away, on your computer with your login
A teammate's agent Name's agent After its owner approves
A team agent Team agent · starts when asked Straight away, on a team computer, as you

Approve a request for your agent

When a teammate asks your agent to work on a task, the request waits for you: the task shows Waiting for you and you get a notification.

A request for your agent on a task, showing the folder it will run in with Approve and Decline

  1. Open the task. The card explains what you are agreeing to: the agent will run on your computer with your login, in the folder shown, and its progress and result will post on the task for everyone on it.
  2. Check the Folder, or change it.
  3. Choose Approve, or Decline and optionally give a Reason.

Whether requests from teammates ask you first is set per agent, under Tasks from teammates (Ask me by default). See External agents.
